A LETTER TO FRANKLIN CUDJOE: IS KAGAME LEADING GHANA NOW?

Dear Franklin Cudjoe,

Perhaps time has conspired with certain events to erode aspects of your unfounded criticisms against this government away and so you may have forgotten about what you said some time ago, so I am here to jog your sleepy memory with this post of yours.

You made pejorative remarks about President Akufo-Addo’s industrialization drive by inviting all of us to accompany you to your model country, Paul Kagame’s Rwanda to feast our eyes and minds on how perfect his system is.

Your paradisical description of Rwanda as against the dungeon you painted Ghana has come to haunt you this very day.

Before I dig into the theme of this short letter to you, let me remind you of the numerous times you and your pals hyped Rwanda, a country that is millions of miles away from the democratic culture we find ourselves in. You made a role model of Rwanda and asked Ghana to emulate it. You saw Kagame as God’s gift to Africa and ridiculed Ghana’s industrialization proposition.

You worshipped Paul Kagame, a near dictator to the detriment of your own leader, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who was duly elected by the good people of Ghana and can rule over us for just eight years.

Ghana, in your warped conclusions, is riddled with a level of corruption that was a put off for industrialists and investors.

You denigrated President Akufo-Addo’s industrialization model as though it was too opaque and unrealistic. You practically described President Akufo-Addo as an utopian idealist whose drive to industrialize Ghana was akin to building castles in the air.

Mr. Pessimist, let me help you out of your depression. Let me state that Akufo-Addo’s plan fleshed out and here are the fine details;

On Monday, August 3, 2020, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo took the wraps off some vehicles assembled in Ghana by Volkswagen, the same car manufacturer that unveiled cars assembled in Rwanda for which your President to the cleaners.

Sinotruck is busy with its variety of trucks being assembled in Ghana. Other vehicle manufacturing powerhouses are also preparing to launch their models in Ghana. You think they would have come down to Ghana to invest if the dirges you harmoniously chorused were true?

Is that to also say that Paul Kagame, the man you and your friends regard as the best thing to happen to Africa, is now Ghana’s President?

Your problem is that you argue with emotions but not with facts. You allow your emotions to lead you into such skewed conclusions. I am cock sure that by this development, you will look before you leap when you are presented with an issue requiring serious and analytical scrutinies.
