COVID-19: China donates medical supplies to NPP

Mr. Zhu Jing, Charge D’Affaires of the People’s Republic of China Embassy in Ghana has handed over some medical supplies donated by the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China to the New Patriotic Party(NPP).

Mr. Zhu, presenting the items on behalf of his group recalled that, in February this year, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Mr. Freddy Blay, National Chairman of NPP, wrote separate letters to the Chinese President, H.E. Xi Jinping to express their solidarity and support for the people of China when they were at the peak of the fight against COVID-19.

“This was strong demonstration of the brotherly friendship between the two countries, and that would be recorded in the history books of the two countries”, he noted.

Mr. Zhu elaborated that as Ghanaian are also suffering at this trying times, the Communist Party of China empathizes and stands firmly with the people of Ghana in these challenges moment. The International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China therefore made special arrangement to donate anti-epidemic supplies to the NPP.

“The Chinese side will continue sharing experience in disease prevention and treatment with the Ghanaian side to win the battle against this major communicable disease and build a closer China-Africa community with a shared future”, he ended.

The NPP National Chairman, Mr. Freddy Blay receiving the gifts, thanked the Communist Party for their support to the party to fight the COVID-19.

He assured them that the items would be put into good use and to those who needed them most in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

With him to receive the items were Dr. Charles Dwamena, Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to China and other staff from the NPP headquarters.
