Voters Registration: EC Chair to address the nation today

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, Jean Mensa is set to address the nation today June 29, on the arrangements put in place for the compilation of the new voter register which the Commission will start from tomorrow Tuesday 30th June, 2020.

The Commission was given the green light to start the compilation of the voters register by the Supreme Court last week after the National Democratic Congress (NDC), with some private citizens sued the EC, preventing the commission from compiling a new register.

The apex Court in its ruling also said old voters ID card and Ghana’s birth certificate cannot be used as a form of identification at the registration centers and that only the Ghana card, Passport or a guarantor are the only forms of identification for the registration exercise as stated in the CI126.

With this the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa will address the country today to relay the modalities for the registration process to Ghanaians and also to inform the country on the preparedness of the commission for the exercise.
