Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has urged Parliament to hold the fire against the toes of the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta.
According to him, the next time the Minister presents the government’s budget to the House for approval, he should be told to settle all the arrears else the House will not approve the budget.
Speaking at a meeting organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary of Affairs with some Chairmen and Ranking Members of Committees on Wednesday 3rd June 2020, he lamented the lack of adequate resources for Parliament.
He questioned how the executive expects the Committees of Parliament to work expeditiously without sufficient funding.
“How do you expect the Committees to work? We don’t even leave this premises to have a meeting with the whole Committees because we are under-resourced,” he said.
Mr. Agyapong argued that the essence of the Wednesday meeting was to broaden the horizon of members of the Committees but stressed without resources whatever will be discussed is not going to work.
