A group of National Democratic Congress (NDC) members and some past constituency executives at New Edubiase in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti region have threatened to quit the party over the qualification of a parliamentary aspirant, Abdul Salam Adams.
According to them, they will vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 general election if the Ashanti Regional and National Executives endorse Abdul Salam Adams as their parliamentary candidate.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News, Augustine Heduvor, an NDC communication member for the New Edubiase constituency alleged that Mr. Adams contributed to the party’s loss in 2016 after he switched to NPP when he was disqualified in the NDC primary.
“If Abdul Salam is being asked to contest as a parliamentary candidate and is endorsed on Saturday, then NPP is likely to get some 10,000 votes difference in 2020 as more aggrieved NDC members will vote for them.
“The constituency executives do not respect the grassroots so they didn’t even bother to allow him apologise for what he did in 2016 and even want him to go unopposed,” he said.
